Celtic's Johnston Resumes Training, Araujo's Season Likely Over
After a lengthy absence, Alistair Johnston has rejoined Celtic's training sessions, while Julian Araujo's season may be cut short due to injury. Johnston, who has been sidelined since October with a hamstring issue, participated in team training ahead of the upcoming match against St Mirren. Meanwhile, Araujo, who is on loan from Bournemouth, has suffered a setback in his recovery from a thigh problem and may not play for Celtic again this season. According to Celtic manager Martin O'Neill, 'He [Johnston] trained with the team today, which was very encouraging... If he comes through today, a little bit of work that he did with the team and also the work he did on his own with the recuperative team, then next week would be hopefully a good week's training for him.' O'Neill also expressed concern about Araujo's injury, stating, 'Julian re-injured himself under supervision at Bournemouth so that was a real blow... I don't think we will see him for the rest of the season.' The team is also dealing with other injuries, including a hamstring issue that will keep Colby Donovan out of the upcoming match. On a positive note, the Green Brigade, a supporters' group, will be returning to Celtic Park after a five-month ban. O'Neill welcomed their return, saying, 'The support is very strong, it's great and I would like if that was the case, just to park things now and let's see what the summer brings.' The team is currently third in the Scottish Premiership, trailing Hearts and Rangers, and O'Neill acknowledged that the title race is still uncertain, saying, 'I would still rather be in Hearts' position just now... They are in the lead with games running out, that is not a bad position to be in.'
