Aston Martin's Struggles Expected to Continue

According to Sky Sports F1's Martin Brundle, Aston Martin's dismal start to the 2026 season is far from over. The team has failed to impress despite the promising partnership with design expert Adrian Newey and Honda as their new engine partner. Alongside newcomer Cadillac, Aston Martin has struggled to score points, with Fernando Alonso's 18th-place finish in Japan being the only instance of their car completing a full Grand Prix. Brundle described the situation as a 'horror show' that will take time to resolve, citing the need for the right personnel and direction at Honda. The team's lack of speed and reliability has been a major issue, and with the current Formula 1 calendar and cost caps, it will be challenging to turn things around quickly. Brundle believes that improvement is unlikely until 2027. Aston Martin and Honda are working to address their issues, including engine vibrations that have caused reliability problems. The team is also developing the AMR26 chassis, with Newey confident that it has potential once upgrades are added and power-unit performance improves. Fellow commentator David Croft shared similar sentiments, stating that Aston Martin's project is a long-term one and that they will likely struggle throughout the season until the chassis can accommodate the power unit and vibrations are reduced. The Miami Grand Prix, scheduled for May 1-3, will be the next opportunity for Aston Martin to improve their performance.
