Sinner and Alcaraz Advance to Quarterfinals at Monte-Carlo Masters

Jannik Sinner ended his 37-set winning streak at Masters 1000 level but still managed to defeat Tomas Machac 6-1, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters. Sinner had previously achieved the Sunshine Double without dropping a set and also won the Paris Masters last year. Despite struggling with his energy levels, Sinner was able to recover and secure the win. 'Not every day is the same, I was struggling a bit, I was a bit tired,' Sinner said. He will face Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals, who progressed after Casper Ruud retired due to injury. Carlos Alcaraz also dropped a set before beating Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 to continue his title defense. Alcaraz will play Alexander Bublik in the quarterfinals, while other winners included Joao Fonseca, Alexander Zverev, and Alex De Minaur. Valentin Vacherot made history by becoming the first Monegasque to reach the quarterfinals in the Open Era. In other news, Holger Rune will return to action at the Hamburg Open after undergoing Achilles surgery, and several players advanced to the quarterfinals at the Linz WTA 500 tournament.
