Rangers Stun Falkirk with Thrilling Comeback to Keep Pressure on Hearts

Rangers staged an incredible fightback at Falkirk to remain firmly in contention for the Scottish Premiership title, with just five games left to play. Danny Röhl's team had begun the day in third place, following wins by Hearts and Celtic on Saturday. However, their prospects seemed to dim further when Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats gave the Bairns a 2-0 lead. Tochi Chukwanui reduced the deficit before halftime, and a blistering start to the second half saw Rangers surge into a 3-2 lead, courtesy of goals from Youssef Chermiti and Nico Raskin. Bojan Miovski then added a fourth, before Falkirk's Calvin Miller narrowed the gap to 4-3 from the penalty spot, after James Tavernier fouled Filip Lissah. Nevertheless, Rangers demonstrated their title credentials as both Miovski and Chermiti scored again, putting the game out of reach for Falkirk. The win propelled Rangers back into second place, just a point behind leaders Hearts, with Celtic trailing a further two points behind. This marks only the second time this season that the top three teams in the Premiership have all emerged victorious on the same weekend, a record Rangers were keen to maintain. The turning point in the match came when Chukwuani scored a contentious goal just before halftime, sparking an extraordinary comeback. The home team appeared to pause in anticipation of a goal kick after Raskin's cross sailed over the goalmouth, but the ball landed on the head of Djeidi Gassama, whose header hit the post before Chukwuani converted the rebound. The introduction of Bojan Miovski for Mikey Moore at halftime proved to be a pivotal substitution by Röhl. Gassama was moved to the left and won the ball on the edge of the Falkirk box, with his low cross flicked home by Chermiti. Rangers subsequently posed a greater threat and took the lead in the 52nd minute, as Raskin ran around the outside of Aasgaard and hit the Norwegian's pass first time into the far corner. Chermiti missed another chance before Raskin set up Miovski to bundle home with a cross from the left. Falkirk were given a lifeline in the 70th minute when Miller netted from the spot after Tavernier had brought down Filip Lissah. However, Raskin was involved again when Rangers restored their two-goal cushion, bursting forward before Chermiti netted after Gassama's shot was blocked. The Belgian midfielder was eventually booked for a clash with Dylan Tait, after earlier escaping yellow cards for a clear pull and embracing Rangers fans after his goal. Miovski rounded off the scoring two minutes from time, converting Oliver Antman's low cross from close range. Rangers head coach Danny Röhl reflected on the match, stating, 'Our start was not ideal, but we showed an outstanding reaction. We focused on our job and the spirit is great. The connection between our supporters and the team is excellent, and we are one team now.' Röhl also drew parallels with his experience at Falkirk four or five months ago, highlighting the club's direction and the importance of maintaining belief.
