Johnston Returns to Training, Araujo's Celtic Career May Be Over

Celtic's long-term injured player Alistair Johnston has resumed training, while loanee Julian Araujo may have played his last game for the club due to a setback in his recovery. Johnston, who has been sidelined since October with a hamstring injury, joined his teammates at the Lennoxtown training complex ahead of the Scottish Premiership match against St Mirren. Meanwhile, Araujo, who is recovering from a thigh problem, has suffered a relapse and may not feature for Celtic again this season. 'He trained with the team today, which was very encouraging,' said Celtic manager Martin O'Neill. 'I don't think he felt any ill effects.' However, O'Neill expressed concerns about Araujo's injury, stating, 'Julian re-injured himself under supervision at Bournemouth, so that was a real blow. I've only found that out today, so I don't think we will see him for the rest of the season.' The club also confirmed that right-back Colby Donovan will miss Saturday's game with a hamstring injury and may also be absent from the Scottish Cup tie against the Saints at Hampden Park on April 19. O'Neill welcomed the return of the Green Brigade, the Hoops ultras group, after a five-month ban was lifted. The group has been locked out of Celtic Park since October but will now be able to support the team as they chase Hearts and Rangers at the top of the table. 'The safety regulations have been sorted, and that would give us a boost, absolutely,' O'Neill said. 'The support is very strong, it's great, and I would like if that was the case, just to park things now and let's see what the summer brings.' On the title race, O'Neill added, 'I would still rather be in Hearts' position just now. They are in the lead with games running out, that is not a bad position to be in. It could go any way. I genuinely wouldn't know.'
