Women's T20 World Cup 2026 to Feature Record-Breaking Prize Fund

A 10 per cent increase in the total prize fund for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 has been confirmed by the International Cricket Council, with the tournament set to take place in England and Wales this summer. The winners will receive $2.34m, while the runners-up will take home $1.17m. All participating teams are guaranteed a minimum of $247,500, more than double the amount from 2024. The tournament is expected to be a landmark moment for women's cricket, with a record-breaking prize pot and increased investment in the sport. The ICC CEO, Sanjog Gupta, stated that the growth of women's cricket continues to accelerate, and the expansion of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup to 12 teams underlines their commitment to building a stronger, more competitive global game. The tournament will feature 33 matches across 24 days in seven venues, with the first match taking place on June 12. The prize money for the top two teams remains the same as in 2024, but there was a significant increase of 134 per cent compared to 2023. The total prize pot for the tournament has grown to $8,765m, with the winners of the 2024 tournament, New Zealand, receiving a total prize pot of $7.958m. The tournament director, Beth Barrett-Wild, said that the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 is set to be a historic moment for the game, with record-breaking ticket demand and the largest-ever prize pot for a global women's T20 competition.
