Hollie Doyle's Blog: Gaining Insight into Derby Prospect Wareeth
This week, Sky Sports Racing ambassador Hollie Doyle will be competing at Newmarket's Craven meeting, with a notable ride on the promising Derby contender Wareeth in the Listed Feilden Stakes. On Wednesday, Wareeth, trained by Archie Watson, will take part in the Feilden Stakes, providing an opportunity to assess his potential as a Derby horse. The additional furlong in the race is expected to suit the son of Sea The Stars, who won his novice race over 1m at Newcastle by an impressive 14 lengths last month. Despite not being entered in the Derby, Wareeth has shown promise since his debut, and his performance in the Feilden Stakes will be closely watched. Other notable competitors in the race include Aidan O'Brien's Isaac Newton, who has a Derby entry and an official rating of 106, and Godolphin's Poseidon's Warrior. Both Wareeth and Poseidon's Warrior will be making the transition from novice company, and all three colts are entered in the traditional Derby trial, the Group 2 Dante at York. Meanwhile, Heather Main's sprinter Zoulou Chief is expected to deliver a strong performance in the Weatherbys With Venatour Racing Handicap on Wednesday, having won at Wolverhampton and given a good challenge to Completely Random at Lingfield Park. As a five-year-old, Zoulou Chief is approaching his prime and is considered a 90 horse. Hollie Doyle has also ridden work on Jane Chapple-Hyam's outsider Harlequin Breeze, who will participate in the Group 3 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes on Wednesday. Despite being a maiden after three starts, Harlequin Breeze has shown improvement with each run and demonstrated determination over course and distance. Impossible Mission will need to prove himself on turf in the National Stud Handicap on Wednesday, having made a winning handicap debut on the All-Weather. Lady Fizz, a debutant from Des Donovan's yard, will face fillies from prominent yards in the Molson Coors British EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes, which may be a minimum trip for her. On Thursday, Hollie Doyle will ride Marco Botti's Shergar Cup winner Prince Of India in the Zyn Abernant Stakes, a powerfully built colt who could be a force in stakes sprints this summer. The Group 3 Betway Craven Stakes on Thursday is expected to be a competitive race, with Hawk Mountain, a Group 1 winner, making his return and aiming to strengthen his Derby claims.
