Fury vs AJ: Promoter Says Fight Will Happen This Year, Dubbing It 'Boxing's World Cup Final'

According to manager Spencer Brown, Tyson Fury is set to face Anthony Joshua this year. Brown, who is also promoting Fury's comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov, believes a victory over Makhmudov will pave the way for the highly anticipated showdown with Joshua. Brown described the potential fight as 'the World Cup final of boxing,' stating that it's a long-overdue bout that will finally happen this year. Fury and Joshua have come close to fighting before, but it has yet to be made official. The wait for the fight could be extended if Joshua decides to take a tune-up bout first, as he is currently recovering from a car accident. Brown noted that Joshua has two options: to take a warm-up fight or to go straight into training to face Fury. He emphasized that Fury is ready whenever Joshua is, and it's up to Joshua to make the decision. Brown also expressed his hope that Makhmudov won't derail their plans, describing the upcoming fight as a 'very, very hard' one. He has invited Joshua to attend the event at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, saying, 'One million per cent, we've invited him, he'll be there probably.'
