Rachael Blackmore Set to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Rachael Blackmore, the trailblazing jockey who etched her name in history as the first woman to win the Randox Grand National, is slated for induction as a Grand National Legend in 2026. The 36-year-old, who hung up her riding boots, famously guided Minella Times to victory at Aintree in 2021. This recognition places her alongside an illustrious group of Grand National Legends, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as legendary horses like Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti. The induction ceremony is scheduled for the opening day of the Grand National Festival this Thursday, near the newly named Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially open. Reflecting on the honor, Blackmore expressed her gratitude, stating that winning the Grand National was an unforgettable moment and being named a Grand National Legend is a privilege. She also looks forward to inaugurating Blackmore's Bar, an unexpected yet exciting venture. Following her retirement in May 2025 with 575 career wins, including 18 at the Cheltenham Festival, this honor caps off an illustrious career.
