David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney

Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has allegedly been charged with driving under the influence in Sydney. According to the New South Wales police, a 39-year-old man was stopped on Sunday night in Maroubra, Sydney, during a random breath test. The initial breath test yielded a positive result, which was later confirmed by a second test at the police station. The New South Wales Police stated that the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 pm on April 5, when officers were conducting random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra. A van was seen stopping short of the testing site and parking, prompting officers to approach the vehicle and administer a roadside test, which returned a positive result. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly revealed a reading of 0.104. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to address charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offense, just days before the PSL final on May 3 in Lahore. Having retired from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to play in the franchise circuit and is currently captaining the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. It was reported that he had been granted time at home over Easter but was set to rejoin his team ahead of their game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday, although it is unclear if he will participate in the fixture.
