Prograis Predicts Benn's Risky Strategy Will Ultimately Backfire

Regis Prograis believes Conor Benn is taking a significant risk by facing him this weekend, claiming that Benn's gamble will ultimately prove to be a costly mistake. Benn is set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he has enjoyed middleweight victories over Chris Eubank Jr, for his third consecutive fight at the venue. Prograis, a former super-lightweight world champion, is moving up to 150lbs to face Benn at a catchweight with no rehydration limit. "They've set the terms in his favor, but I'm confident I can win," Prograis stated. "I've spent my entire career fighting at 140lbs, so this is a substantial jump for me." Prograis revealed that he requested a weight stipulation for the day after the fight, but it was denied. Despite this, he remains unfazed, asserting, "I know I'm better, and I'm not concerned about weight stipulations. Let's make the fight happen." Prograis is still highly confident of emerging victorious and has also disclosed that there is no rematch clause in place following his fight with Benn. The American stated, "We don't have a rematch clause, but if the people want to see it, why not? It could be something worth considering." Prograis initially planned to move up to 147lbs, but he received a call to fight Benn on six weeks' notice. Fortunately, he was already training, which made the short notice more manageable. Prograis views Benn's decision to fight him as a gamble, given his own level of preparation. He does not consider Benn to be in the same class as him, saying, "I don't think so. I know I'm better." Prograis described Benn as an "okay fighter" who is neither exceptional nor poor. However, when comparing their accomplishments, Prograis believes his own achievements far surpass those of Benn. Prograis has been ranked No 1 in the world twice and has held the championship title twice, whereas Benn has not achieved the same level of success. Prograis is eager to use a victory over Benn as a stepping stone to another world title shot, stating, "It'll open up numerous opportunities for me. I know that after this fight, something big will come my way. My goal is to become a three-time champion."
