Fernandez and Agent Issue Apology to Chelsea Over Recent Remarks

Enzo Fernandez and his representative have offered apologies to Chelsea following comments made during his time with the Argentine national team. Fernandez expressed a desire to potentially reside in Madrid, sparking speculation about a possible move to Real Madrid in the summer. Despite this, no discussions have taken place regarding his sale, and he remains under contract with Chelsea until 2032. As a consequence of his statements, Chelsea's head coach, Liam Rosenior, announced that Fernandez would be excluded from the squad for two matches. Real Madrid is expected to sign a midfielder in the summer, with Fernandez being one of their targets, valued at over £100m. However, Chelsea has no intention of selling him. Fernandez is among the players seeking improved contract terms, but his recent comments may have hindered his cause. He had cast doubt over his future at Chelsea after their Champions League defeat, stating he was unsure if he would still be at the club next season. During his international break, Fernandez mentioned that he likes Madrid, comparing it to Buenos Aires, and expressed openness to living there. His agent, Javier Pastore, deemed the decision to drop Fernandez for two games as 'completely unfair,' arguing that he did not mention any club or express a desire to leave Chelsea. Pastore revealed that contract renewal talks have stalled, with the intention to revisit discussions after the World Cup. Chelsea's head coach, Liam Rosenior, has since stated that he and Fernandez are in a good place, and they will move forward, focusing on the remainder of the season.
