Gary Player Offers Support to Tiger Woods Amid Health Struggles, Urges Caution on Driving

Golf legends Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus have expressed their support for Tiger Woods, who is currently absent from the Masters due to health issues. Woods, a 15-time major champion, has been dealing with the aftermath of a car accident and is seeking treatment. Player, who has been an honorary starter at the Masters, sympathized with Woods' chronic pain but emphasized the importance of prioritizing his safety, particularly when it comes to driving. 'My heart goes out to him,' Player said. 'Living with pain every day is unbearable. I just hope he can get the help he needs, as he is a valuable asset to the game of golf.' Player advised Woods to consider hiring a chauffeur to avoid driving while taking medication. Nicklaus also offered words of encouragement, stating that golf needs Woods and would love to have him back. Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley confirmed that they support Woods' decision to focus on his health and well-being, wishing him the best in his recovery. Woods has played in only 11 official tournaments since November 2020 and has not made a competitive appearance since The Open in July 2024.
