David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney

Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has allegedly been charged with drunk driving in Sydney, according to reports. On Sunday night, a 39-year-old man was stopped by New South Wales police in Maroubra, Sydney, during a random breath test. The initial test yielded a positive result, which was confirmed by a second test at the police station. A New South Wales Police statement revealed that the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 pm on April 5, when a van was seen stopping short of a testing site and parking on Malabar Road, Maroubra. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was subjected to roadside testing, which returned a positive result. He was subsequently arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to address charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offense. This development comes as Warner is set to captain the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, with the final taking place on May 3 in Lahore. Having retired from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to play in the franchise circuit. It remains uncertain whether he will participate in the upcoming game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday, following reports that he had been granted time at home over Easter.
