Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Rachael Blackmore, the trailblazing jockey who achieved a historic first by winning the Randox Grand National, is set to be inducted as a Grand National Legend in 2026. Having guided Minella Times to victory at Aintree in 2021, the 36-year-old, now retired, will be recognized in a ceremony at the Grand National Festival's opening day this Thursday. She will join esteemed company, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as renowned equine stars like Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti, in being named a Grand National Legend. The ceremony will take place near the newly renamed Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially open on Thursday. Blackmore reflected on her achievement, saying, 'The moment I won the Randox Grand National at Aintree on Minella Times is etched in my memory forever. To see my name alongside other Grand National Legends is a tremendous honor, and I feel privileged to be part of this history.' She also expressed excitement about opening Blackmore's Bar, an opportunity she never thought she'd have, describing it as a unique experience for fans to enjoy during the festival. Following her retirement in May 2025 with 575 career wins, including 18 successes at the Cheltenham Festival, this recognition further cements her legacy in the sport.
