Former Hull FC head coach John Cartwright has expressed his feelings of betrayal and disrespect following his departure from the club. The news of his exit was announced on April 7, with the club stating that Cartwright's contract would not be renewed at the end of the current season. Despite this, Cartwright claims he was not provided with an explanation for the decision. In an interview, Cartwright stated that he still has not been given a reason for his termination and feels disrespected by the club's actions.

Cartwright had been with the club since the start of the 2025 campaign and had led the team to a seventh-placed finish, their highest finish since 2020. The club has already begun the process of finding a new coach for the 2027 season and currently sits ninth in the Super League standings.

Cartwright has vowed to continue performing his duties and maintaining his bond with the players until his contract expires.
