Norrie Advances to Face De Minaur in Monte Carlo After Grueling Three-Set Match

British tennis player Cameron Norrie has secured a spot in the second round of the Monte-Carlo Masters, where he will face off against Alex de Minaur. Norrie, ranked 24th in the world, emerged victorious from a challenging three-set battle against Miomir Kecmanovic, the world's 58th-ranked player. After winning the first set 6-2, Norrie lost the second set 6-4 and found himself under pressure in the third set. However, he managed to force a tie-break and won it 7-0, ultimately claiming the match. This marks Norrie's first victory in Monte-Carlo since 2019. He had previously reached the quarter-finals at Indian Wells, where he defeated de Minaur, before being beaten by world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz. Meanwhile, fellow British player Jack Draper is taking a cautious approach to his comeback after an arm injury last season. Draper, who did not play a tour-level tournament match for six months, returned to competition in February and has since participated in events in Dubai and Indian Wells. In other tennis news, British women's No 2 Katie Boulter is competing in the Linz Open, while Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the tournament due to illness.
