Teenage Sensation Szubarczyk Creates History as Youngest Winner in World Snooker Championship

At just 15 years, two months, and 25 days old, Polish prodigy Michal Szubarczyk has become the youngest player to win a World Snooker Championship match, breaking the previous record held by Liam Davies. Szubarczyk achieved this remarkable feat by defeating Hong Kong's Ng On Yee 10-7 in the first qualifying round at the English Institute of Sport. Ng, a three-time women's world snooker champion, had been in good form, having claimed wins on the women's tour in February and March. Szubarczyk expressed his pride and excitement, stating that he is looking forward to his next match and hopes to become the youngest player to compete at the Crucible. To achieve this, he needs to win three more matches, which would also surpass the record held by Luca Brecel, who made his Crucible debut in 2012 at the age of 17. Meanwhile, six-time World Snooker Championship finalist Jimmy White suffered a heartbreaking loss to 21-year-old Gao Yang in the first qualifying round, prolonging his 20-year wait to return to the Crucible.
