JJ Spaun has claimed his second Valero Texas Open title, finishing one shot ahead of Robert MacIntyre and Matt Wallace. The 2025 US Open champion made a strong comeback in the final round, carding a 5-under 67 to reach 17 under, while MacIntyre and Wallace tied for second place at 16 under. MacIntyre, who had been leading for much of the tournament, failed to force a playoff after his birdie attempt at the 18th hole came up short.
Spaun's victory marks his first win since the US Open last year and comes after a challenging start to the season. He attributed his success to adopting a more relaxed approach, saying, "This game is so crazy... I've just been trying to take each day as it comes and accept what I have." The win is a significant turnaround for Spaun, who had not finished inside the top 20 in his previous seven PGA Tour starts this year.
MacIntyre and Wallace were joined in a tie for second place by Kim, while Ludvig Åberg and Andrew Putnam shared fifth place.
