New Policy Prohibits Transgender Women from Participating in Female Darts Competitions

The Darts Regulation Authority has introduced a new eligibility policy, stating that only individuals assigned female at birth can compete in women's darts tournaments. This decision follows a thorough review of the authority's Trans and Gender Diverse Policy, which included a report by a developmental biologist and consideration of extensive legal advice and recent UK court rulings. As a result, transgender women, including Noa-Lynn van Leuven, a six-time title winner on the women's tour, will no longer be allowed to participate in women's events. However, they can still compete in open tournaments. Van Leuven expressed her disappointment and frustration with the decision, describing it as a significant setback for the trans community. The DRA will continue to monitor developments and review its Eligibility Policy annually.
