JJ Spaun Claims Texas Open Title After Robert MacIntyre Falls Short

JJ Spaun secured his second Valero Texas Open title, finishing one shot ahead of Robert MacIntyre and Matt Wallace. The 2025 US Open champion made a stunning comeback, carding three birdies and an eagle on the back nine to shoot a 5-under 67 and reach 17 under. MacIntyre had led for much of the week but was unable to force a playoff, despite an eagle at the 17th, after an errant second shot at the 18th left him 30 feet short. Spaun, who had not finished inside the top 20 in seven PGA Tour starts this year, celebrated his first victory since last year's US Open triumph. "This game is so crazy," Spaun said. "I haven't been feeling the form I wanted based on last season, and I've just been trying to take each day as it comes and accept what I have." MacIntyre and Wallace were joined in a tie for second by Kim, while Ludvig Åberg shared fifth place with Andrew Putnam.
