Chelsea to Face Manchester City in Women's FA Cup Semi-Finals

The current Women's FA Cup champions, Chelsea, will be hosting the Women's Super League leaders, Manchester City, in the semi-finals. This comes after Chelsea secured a 2-1 win against Tottenham at Kingsmeadow. Manchester City also booked their spot in the semi-finals with a narrow 1-0 victory over Birmingham, thanks to a goal from Khadija Shaw. Liverpool will be facing Brighton in the other semi-final match, following their respective quarter-final wins on Sunday. The semi-final matches are scheduled for the weekend of May 9/10, with the final set to take place on May 31. Chelsea's win was sealed by a stunning late strike from Veerle Buurman, who scored in the 86th minute. The match had seen the visitors level the score earlier in the second half through Eveliina Summanen's cross, after Sam Kerr had put Chelsea ahead before the interval. Manchester City's win was courtesy of Shaw's goal in the eighth minute, assisted by Iman Beney's fine pass. Despite Birmingham's brave fight, Manchester City came close to scoring a second goal, with Yui Hasegawa's shot being turned against the bar by goalkeeper Lucy Thomas.
