Tiger Woods' Absence Debated by Fellow Golfers

Despite not competing in The Masters, Tiger Woods has been a dominant figure in pre-tournament discussions, with many participants at Augusta National sharing their thoughts on his absence and personal struggles. Woods, who has undergone numerous back surgeries and an Achilles operation since his last major appearance in July 2024, was involved in a car accident on March 27 and subsequently announced he would be taking time away from golf to focus on his health and seek treatment. The PGA Tour and Masters chairman Fred Ridley have expressed their support for Woods, while former world No 1 Jason Day admitted it's 'difficult' to see his 'hero' facing challenges. Day stated, 'He's not immune to struggles just because he can hit a golf ball really well. He's had 25 to 30-something surgeries. When you're going through that many procedures, it's painful coming out of those procedures.' Day added that some people want Woods to fail, while others want him to succeed, making it tough for him to navigate his situation under intense scrutiny. Other golfers, including Justin Rose and Patrick Reed, have also shared their thoughts on Woods' absence, acknowledging the impact it has on the game of golf. With Woods missing The Masters for the second consecutive year, the golfing community is hoping he will recover and return to the sport soon.
