Aspinall Claims German Darts Grand Prix Title with Victory Over Noppert

Nathan Aspinall has secured his fourth European Tour title, emerging victorious in the German Darts Grand Prix with an 8-5 win over Danny Noppert in the final. Aspinall, who had previously won three European Tour titles in 2025, made a successful return to winning ways in Munich, overcoming a determined challenge from Noppert to claim the £35,000 top prize. Aspinall trailed 5-4 but then won four consecutive legs, averaging 100.35 and hitting seven 180s to thwart Noppert's bid for his first European Tour crown. Aspinall began the final day by defeating Martin Schindler, winning six straight legs from 2-0 down. He then beat Andrew Gilding 6-4 in the quarter-finals, before producing a standout performance in the semi-finals, averaging 106.40 to defeat Kevin Doets and end a run of six successive defeats against the Dutchman. Aspinall's victory set up a high-profile showdown against Noppert, and he initially seemed poised to cruise to victory, leading 4-1 after an 11-darter and a 108 combination. However, Noppert capitalized on Aspinall's struggles with doubling to win four straight legs and take the lead. Aspinall responded with legs of 13, 12, and 15 darts to lead 7-5, before sealing a brilliant display with a clinical 128 checkout. 'I am absolutely buzzing,' Aspinall admitted, after equalling Phil Taylor's haul of four European Tour titles. 'I've had a lot of setbacks this year, and it's been hard to stay motivated, but nights like this remind me why I play the game.' Aspinall's victory came after a series of matches on Monday, including quarter-final wins for Danny Noppert, Nathan Aspinall, and Kevin Doets. The BetMGM Premier League season continues on Thursday with Night 10 in Brighton, featuring an all-Dutch showdown between Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen, as well as matches between Luke Humphries and Jonny Clayton, Gerwyn Price and Josh Rock, and Luke Littler and Stephen Bunting.
