Fakhar Zaman Suspended for Ball Tampering in PSL Match

The Pakistan Cricket Board has handed down a two-match suspension to Fakhar Zaman in the Pakistan Super League after finding him guilty of ball tampering. The incident occurred during Lahore Qalandars' four-wicket loss to Karachi Kings on Sunday. Despite denying the charge, Fakhar was found to have committed a Level III offence by match referee Roshan Mahanama. The disciplinary action was taken after a discussion between Fakhar, captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, and fast bowler Haris Rauf in the final over of Karachi's run chase, during which the ball was handled by Fakhar and Rauf. The PCB confirmed the suspension, stating that Fakhar's actions constituted a serious breach of cricket's Law 41.3.2, which prohibits players from altering the condition of the ball. The Qalandars' captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, expressed his concerns about the ball change during the post-match presentation, saying the team would review the incident. The PSL has faced criticism recently due to a series of disciplinary issues, including fines for players and security breaches. Lahore Qalandars have also been involved in other incidents, including a fine for captain Afridi and an incident involving Zimbabwe T20 captain Sikandar Raza.
