Lydia Ko Achieves Personal Best in LPGA Tour at Ford Championship

Lydia Ko made history with the best round of her career on the LPGA Tour, securing a narrow lead at the Ford Championship in Phoenix with a remarkable 12-under 60. Her impressive start included four consecutive birdies, followed by two more to close the round. This exceptional performance marks the first time since the 2003 Kellogg-Keebler Classic that two players have achieved double-digit scores under par in the opening round, with defending champion Hyo Joo Kim shooting a 61. Ko expressed her satisfaction with her game, stating that she stayed patient and rolled the ball well. Her career-low round was nearly a 59, but she missed a seven-foot birdie putt on the par-five seventh. Ko's achievement is the ninth round of 60 or lower on the LPGA, with the most recent being Lucy Li's in 2024. Other notable performances include Nelly Korda's 63 and Frida Kinhult's 64, while Jeeno Thitikul, the No 1 player in women's golf, started with a 69.
