Bath Dominates Saracens with Nine-Try Rout

Defending Gallagher Prem champions Bath reaffirmed their title ambitions with a convincing 62-15 win over Saracens at the Rec, reclaiming top spot in the process. Despite a strong start from the Londoners, Bath's clinical finishing earned them nine tries in front of a packed crowd, with Finn Russell contributing 17 points via seven conversions and a penalty. Russell and captain Ben Spencer quickly returned to form after their Six Nations campaigns. Saracens initially took the lead with a try from Tobias Elliott, but Bath soon found their rhythm. Ollie Lawrence sparked the turnaround with a powerful surge, setting up Will Muir's try. Russell's conversion and a 40-22 kick put pressure back on Saracens. Josh Bayliss then scored, and Russell's conversion gave Bath a 14-10 lead after 20 minutes. The home side continued to dominate, with Alfie Barbeary scoring from a catch-and-drive. Saracens briefly responded with a second try for Elliott, but Henry Arundell's 70-metre interception try secured the bonus point for Bath. The second half saw Saracens determined to fight back, but they lost possession, allowing Spencer to score. Russell converted Kepu Tuipulotu's try, and Arundell scored his second. A dazzling move initiated by Russell and continued by Arundell and Lawrence ended with Guy Pepper scoring. The rout was completed with a ninth try from replacement scrum-half Bernard van der Linde.
