Crystal Palace Faces Potential Departure of Key Striker
Crystal Palace is at risk of losing another vital player, as striker Jean-Philippe Mateta is considering a move to a new club. Following the impending exit of captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City, the Eagles may also see their top scorer leave. Mateta, a 28-year-old French international, is seeking a new challenge with a Champions League club or a team with a strong chance of competing in the tournament next season. Several Premier League clubs and Juventus have expressed interest in signing him, but he is not interested in moving to Saudi Arabia or Turkey at this stage in his career. Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Mateta could leave the club if the right offer is made, with the player having 18 months remaining on his contract. Mateta's desire for a new opportunity is driven by his ambition to secure a spot in the French World Cup squad this summer. The news of Mateta's potential departure comes after Glasner and Guehi's exits were announced earlier in the day, with Manchester City agreeing to pay an initial £20m for Guehi. Glasner, who will also be leaving the club at the end of the season, cited his desire for a new challenge as the reason for his departure.
