Merk and Monk Among Early Qualifiers at 2026 PDC Q-School

The 2026 PDC Q-School got underway on Monday, with Arno Merk, Arron Monk, and Jamie Hughes emerging as some of the first 32 players to advance to the next stage. Held simultaneously in Milton Keynes and Kalkar, Germany, the UK and European Qualifying School marks the beginning of an intense week-long competition, where over 900 players will vie for a spot on the PDC circuit for the next two years. The initial stage, running until January 7, serves as a qualifying round for the Final Stage, where Tour Cards will be awarded from January 8 to 11. Fresh from his impressive run at the World Championships, PDC Europe Super League winner Arno Merk made a strong start, winning four consecutive matches to secure his place in the Final Stage. Former World Youth Champion Arron Monk also progressed, notably defeating three-time world champion John Part, while former European Tour title winner Jamie Hughes advanced as well. Other notable winners from the UK Qualifying School include Tommy Lishman, Martin Grearson, and Robbie Martin. The European Qualifying School also saw several players advance, including Patrick Maat, Benjamin Pratnemer, and Jimmy van Schie. The competition is set to continue, with the Premier League Darts scheduled to start in February, and defending champion Luke Humphries ready to take on the challenge.
