Formula 1 has confirmed that its second-ever season‑launch extravaganza will take place in Milan this February, kicking off the 2027 championship campaign. The decision follows the highly successful F1 75 Live celebration held at London’s O2 Arena in February 2025, which marked the sport’s 75th anniversary. Building on that momentum, the organisers promise an even larger and more immersive experience for fans worldwide. The three‑day Milan event, branded F1 Live Milan, is scheduled for 18‑20 February 2027.
It will transform the Italian metropolis into a temporary motorsport festival, with a programme that blends on‑track excitement, behind‑the‑scenes insight, and live entertainment. The opening night will feature “F1 The Show,” a star‑studded production that brings together drivers, team principals, and senior officials from all eleven entries competing in the 2027 season. In addition to interviews and panel discussions, the show will incorporate musical performances and other cultural acts, creating a hybrid spectacle that aims to appeal to both hardcore enthusiasts and casual observers. Stefano Domenicali, the president of Formula 1, emphasised the ambition behind the Milan gathering.
He explained that the sport is constantly seeking to push boundaries and that F1 Live Milan is designed to place fans at the centre of the action. “We want them to feel that they are not simply watching the sport, but they are truly immersed in it,” he said. Domenicali highlighted the event as part of a broader strategy to bring the championship closer to its global audience, offering opportunities for supporters to meet their idols, explore the technological innovations that define modern racing, and experience the emotional intensity that makes Formula 1 unique. Milan was chosen for several strategic reasons.
As Italy’s fashion and design capital, the city already exudes a sense of style and sophistication that aligns with Formula 1’s premium brand image. Moreover, Milan’s excellent transport links, extensive hospitality infrastructure, and enthusiastic local fan base make it an ideal venue for an international gathering. The organisers anticipate that visitors will arrive from across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa, turning the three‑day festival into a truly global celebration of motorsport culture.
Beyond the headline show, the festival will host a series of fan‑focused activities. These include interactive simulators that let attendees experience the sensation of driving a current‑generation F1 car, technical exhibitions showcasing the latest aerodynamic and power‑unit developments, and historic displays featuring legendary cars from the sport’s past.
Educational workshops aimed at younger fans will explore topics such as sustainability in racing, the role of data analytics, and pathways to careers in engineering and motorsport management. Music and entertainment will play a central role in the programme. In addition to the opening night concert, the schedule will feature performances by internationally recognised artists as well as emerging Italian talent, reflecting Milan’s reputation as a hub for contemporary music.
Food and beverage offerings will highlight both local Lombard specialties and global cuisine, ensuring that the culinary experience matches the event’s high‑profile nature. Ticket sales are set to begin later this year, with a tiered pricing structure that accommodates casual attendees, dedicated supporters, and corporate partners seeking hospitality packages. Early‑bird tickets will grant access to the full three‑day lineup, while premium passes will include exclusive meet‑and‑greet sessions with drivers, behind‑the‑scenes tours of the event’s technical zones, and reserved seating for the main stage performances. The launch ceremony on 18 February will also be streamed live across the sport’s official digital platforms, allowing fans who cannot travel to Milan to participate virtually.
This mirrors the approach taken for the 2025 London event, where a global audience tuned in to watch the celebrations in real time. Overall, F1 Live Milan aims to set a new benchmark for how Formula 1 engages with its supporters, blending the thrill of racing with cultural and technological showcases. By turning Milan into a temporary Formula 1 village, the championship hopes to create lasting memories for attendees and to reinforce its position as a sport that transcends the confines of the circuit, delivering excitement, innovation, and emotion to fans around the world.
