Lando Norris has announced the formation of a new junior single-seater racing operation called LN4 Fusion, which is set to compete across several series beginning in the 2027 season. The initiative marks a significant step for the British Formula 1 driver, extending his involvement in motorsport beyond the premier class and into the development ladder that feeds future talent into the sport. The newly created LN4 Fusion team has already secured a portion of the assets from the former Formula 3 outfit AIX Racing.
By acquiring this equipment and infrastructure, the squad will be ready to enter the FIA Formula 3 Championship next year. In addition, the organization is actively pursuing the necessary licensing and entry procedures to field a car in the FIA Formula 2 Championship at a later stage, signalling a long‑term ambition to become a full‑scale junior team that can nurture drivers from the early stages of their careers all the way to the cusp of Formula 1. The venture is backed by a high‑profile investment consortium led by Dan Richards, a well‑known figure in the world of motorsport finance. The group’s strategic plan includes fielding entries in the Italian Formula 4 Championship and the Formula Regional European Championship in 2027, with a view to expanding into the British Formula 4 series in subsequent years.
Norris explained to Sky Sports F1 ahead of the Italian Grand Prix that this project is "one of the biggest things I've ever been part of that isn’t just about my own Formula 1 work". He emphasized that the team is his own co‑founded enterprise and that he intends for it to become "the leading single‑seater race team" across the junior categories. Beyond the racing team itself, Norris is also rolling out the LN4 Legacy Programme, an independent, fully funded driver development scheme managed by ADD Management and overseen by seasoned programme director Julian Rouse.
The Legacy Programme is designed to identify promising young drivers who possess the raw talent required to climb the motorsport ladder but lack the financial resources to do so. "The main objective is simply to help younger drivers who have talent and the ability to reach Formula 1, but probably not financially, and support them in every other area needed to achieve that goal," Norris said.
He described the effort as "my little way of trying to give back, using my team, my partners, and giving young drivers a chance". LN4 Fusion’s European headquarters will be situated in the Veneto region of Italy, where a state‑of‑the‑art facility is currently under construction. A complementary British base will operate out of Cambridgeshire, providing logistical support and serving as a hub for driver education and engineering development.
Norris reflected on his own upbringing, noting that his father was able to fund his progression all the way to Formula 2, a privilege many aspiring racers do not share. "There are a lot of drivers out there who could get to Formula 1 but don’t have the financial backing or the knowledge of how to navigate the whole programme," he said. "This is my way of bringing my infrastructure, my support, my knowledge together and giving as many other drivers as possible the opportunity to reach their goal." The LN4 Fusion project is not only about fielding cars; it also aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem that includes engineering mentorship, physical and mental performance coaching, media training, and sponsorship acquisition guidance. By integrating these elements, the programme hopes to produce well‑rounded drivers who are prepared for the pressures of top‑level competition.
The team plans to employ experienced engineers and former racers as mentors, ensuring that each driver receives personalized feedback and technical insight. In addition to the on‑track activities, the LN4 Fusion brand will host a series of community outreach events, school visits, and virtual workshops aimed at inspiring the next generation of motorsport enthusiasts. These initiatives are intended to broaden the sport’s appeal and demonstrate that a career in racing is attainable with the right support network.
The launch event also included a detailed schedule of the upcoming Italian Grand Prix weekend, highlighting practice sessions, qualifying rounds, and associated F3 and F2 events.
