Revolutionizing Golf: Horschel Discusses TGL's Innovative Changes

Billy Horschel is enthusiastic about the exciting new developments in TGL, which will enable PGA Tour stars to demonstrate their exceptional skills, with the new season airing live on Sky Sports. As a member of the defending champions Atlanta Drive GC, Horschel competes in the tech-driven team league, where players engage in a unique blend of virtual and real-time golf within a custom-built indoor venue. The inaugural season featured a mix of virtual holes, including links, canyon, desert, and coastal designs, but the upcoming season will introduce a collection of novel and unconventional hole designs. Renowned golf course architect Gil Hanse has collaborated on the design of these new holes, which Horschel believes will bring a video game-like experience to the world of golf. "We're stepping out of our comfort zone and creating holes that are maybe a little unrealistic in the sense of traditional golf," Horschel explained in an interview on the Sky Sports Golf podcast. The new holes will feature backdrops and locations that deviate from traditional grass golf course construction, with unorthodox obstacles and penalty areas. Horschel added, "You're going to see some really low shots, slices, high cuts, and draws – it's going to be a great balance between real holes and unique ones that showcase our shot-making ability." The teams will play 15 holes per match, with nine holes of triples and six holes of head-to-head singles golf. Other changes for the 2026 season include an expanded putting green, larger bunkers, and improved camera towers. With players like Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, and Justin Rose participating, Horschel is eager for the new season to begin. "I had a lot of fun last year, and I think it's clear that TGL has gained a significant following and support. We're excited to get back into it for season two."
