Djokovic Severs Ties with Tennis Players Union Over Transparency Concerns

World tennis star Novak Djokovic has announced his withdrawal from the Professional Tennis Players Association, a union he co-founded in 2021. Djokovic cited persistent concerns about transparency, governance, and the representation of his voice and image as the reasons behind his decision. The PTPA had previously launched a lawsuit against major tennis governing bodies, including the ATP and WTA, accusing them of abusing their power and neglecting player welfare. However, Djokovic expressed disagreement with certain aspects of the lawsuit. He stated that despite initially sharing a vision with co-founder Vasek Pospisil to give players a stronger voice, his values no longer align with the organization's current direction. Djokovic will now focus on his tennis career, family, and contributing to the sport in a manner that reflects his principles.
