SunRisers Leeds made history by posting 241-2, the highest total ever recorded in The Hundred, and went on to claim a convincing win over London Spirit. After being put in to bat, openers Mitchell Marsh and Ryan Rickelton set the tone with a record-breaking 148-run partnership for the first wicket from just 65 deliveries. Harry Brook then took center stage, smashing 55 runs from a mere 18 balls, including a six that propelled SunRisers past the previous highest total in The Hundred. Brook's explosive innings helped his team surpass the 226-4 record set by Oval Invincibles against Welsh Fire last year.
Following Brook's departure, Dan Lawrence added 10 runs from the final three balls, while Rickelton remained stranded just six runs shy of a century. London Spirit's hopes of a remarkable comeback were quickly dashed when Johnny Bairstow was caught behind by Rickleton off the bowling of Reece Topley with just the second ball of the innings.
Despite Liam Livingstone's 34 runs from 13 deliveries, Spirit struggled to gain momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals. James Coles and James Rew soon followed, leaving Spirit reeling at 56-5 from 26 balls. Although Matthew Revis, David Willey, and Jamie Overton offered some resistance, the target proved too steep, and Spirit ultimately fell 37 runs short, finishing with 204-6.
The win keeps SunRisers' hopes of advancing from the group stage alive, while London Spirit's chances of qualifying are all but extinguished.
