A dazzling display by Sikandar Raza propelled MI London to a thrilling victory, condemning London Spirit to an early exit from The Hundred. With their backs against the wall, Spirit made three changes to their lineup but still fell short in front of a record-breaking crowd of 27,721 at Lord's. Raza, who replaced the absent Rashid Khan, played a pivotal role in a disciplined bowling performance, restricting Spirit's innings and preventing them from gaining momentum despite a half-century from Lhuan-Dre Pretorius.
The visitors' expert bowling display kept the ball away from the shorter boundary, making it difficult for Spirit to score freely. A spectacular boundary catch by Will Jacks, who threw the ball up and dived full length to complete the dismissal one-handed, ended Pretorius' innings. Raza reflected on his impressive debut, saying, 'I'm not really sure what day or date it is, but it's nice to be part of The Hundred and have a debut like that.
I just closed my eyes and swung as hard as I could!' David Willey's aggressive 31 and the late resistance from Jamie Overton and James Coles helped Spirit post a competitive total of 160-5. In response, MI London's chase was boosted by Nicholas Pooran's quick start and a superb partnership between Pooran and captain Sam Curran. However, the dismissal of Pooran brought Raza to the crease, and he immediately made an impact, launching his first, fourth, and seventh deliveries for six.
His explosive 41-run stand with Curran left MI London needing 29 from the final 20 deliveries. Although the momentum shifted several times, Ollie Pope calmly sealed the victory for MI London, ending Spirit's hopes of progressing further in the competition.
