Despite a tied 41st finish at LIV Golf New York, Jon Rahm has clinched the LIV Golf season points title for the third year in a row. Joaquin Niemann took home a three-shot victory, marking his ninth win in the last three years.
Rahm's final round score of 76 was sufficient to secure the season crown. "The last couple of weeks haven't been ideal," Rahm stated. "I'm proud of my performance earlier in the season, particularly my strong start with several second-place finishes and my win in Hong Kong." Niemann, who also won in South Korea earlier this year, led from start to finish at Trump International, finishing the week at 16 under par.
Harold Varner III stayed close until Niemann pulled ahead with a birdie on the 13th and an eagle on the 15th, ultimately finishing second with a score of 70. "The more I'm pushed, the better I become," Niemann said. "I credit myself for hitting the shots and making the putts I did down the stretch." Bryson DeChambeau shot 71 and tied for 38th, 23 shots behind the leader, and can no longer catch Rahm with one tournament remaining. The week also saw LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil announce that the league has signed a term sheet with a lead investor, allowing it to move forward without Saudi Arabian funding.
