Dewi Weber would love to be part of the home Solheim Cup in any capacity, despite being ineligible to play for Team Europe in the Netherlands. The Bernardus Golf course near Den Bosch will host the biennial contest from September 11-13, with Anna Nordqvist leading Team Europe's bid to reclaim the trophy after their 2024 loss to Team USA.
Weber had boosted her Solheim Cup chances with a tied-third finish at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, rising from outside the world's top 200 to a career-high world No 82. However, she remained ineligible due to not being a member of the Ladies European Tour. Weber had aimed to win one of the remaining qualification events to secure LET membership but missed the cut at the Amundi Evian Championship and finished tied-44th at both the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open and the AIG Women's Open.
The Dutchwoman was aware of her eligibility situation after being contacted by Team Europe's captain, Anna Nordqvist. Weber needed to win to qualify but found it challenging, admitting that focusing on the Solheim Cup didn't help her game. The qualification campaign ended after the AIG Women's Open, with the top players on the LET Solheim Cup points list and the next six available players in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings securing automatic spots. Three players below Weber in the world rankings were awarded captain's picks, and she was aiming to become the third player from the Netherlands to play in the Solheim Cup.
Weber is 'absolutely' open to any involvement in her home event, which she believes will be 'super cool' for the Netherlands and women's golf.
