Professional darts player Gian van Veen has reached out for help on social media after his luggage became stuck in Paris, ahead of his participation in the New Zealand Darts Masters in Auckland. Van Veen, who recently finished as runner-up in the 2026 World Darts Championship, has already arrived in Auckland but is still waiting for his gear to arrive. The world No 2 has taken to social media to ask for assistance, tagging Qatar Airways' support page in a plea for help to reunite him with his luggage before the tournament begins.
In response, Qatar Airways apologized for the inconvenience and offered to provide further assistance directly. Van Veen will be competing against a strong field in Auckland, including Gerwyn Price, Stephen Bunting, and James Wade.
The event is the fifth of six regular World Series tournaments in 2026, with previous winners including Michael van Gerwen, Luke Littler, and Luke Humphries. The darts season will continue with the Australian Masters and the World Series Finals in Amsterdam, before the BoyleSports World Grand Prix takes place from September 28 to October 4.
