Under the newly introduced Football Association regulations, players found guilty of discriminatory conduct will face a minimum suspension of 10 games. Previously, the recommended suspension for such offenses ranged from 6 to 12 matches.
The updated rules, which also apply to managers and other officials, aim to tackle discriminatory behavior. A standard suspension of at least 10 matches will be imposed, with the possibility of longer bans if aggravating factors are present.
In cases where mitigating factors are found and the individual acknowledges the breach promptly, a lesser punishment may be given, with a minimum of 6 matches. The FA has reaffirmed its commitment to creating a discrimination-free environment, acknowledging that despite progress, discriminatory conduct remains a challenge. Enhanced measures are necessary to address this issue, and the updated sanction guidelines reflect this. For repeat offenders, stricter sanctions will be imposed.
