The Huddersfield Giants, a prominent Betfred Super League team, have announced plans to relocate from their current home to Dewsbury, with the intention of moving into the Flair Stadium for the 2027 season and beyond. This decision is contingent upon approval from the RFL board and involves a substantial investment of over £10 million to upgrade the venue.
The redevelopment aims to transform the stadium into a state-of-the-art facility, complete with a new stand that will increase the capacity from 5,000 to approximately 8,000 spectators, ensuring an immersive viewing experience from all four sides of the pitch. The refurbishment will also include the renovation of fan concourses, significant upgrades to existing and new hospitality suites, the addition of new bars and food areas, as well as the installation of modern player dressing rooms and press facilities, all of which will elevate the stadium to meet Super League standards. Following extensive negotiations with the Dewsbury Rams, a Betfred Championship team, an agreement has been reached, paving the way for a strong partnership between the two clubs.
The Flair Stadium will continue to host the Rams in the revamped, dual-branded facility. This development comes after a period of uncertainty for the Giants, who have been seeking a permanent location in the Huddersfield area. Ken Davy OBE, the club's owner, has explored alternative sites, including The Shay Stadium in Halifax.

Ralph Rimmer OBE, the executive chairman of the Huddersfield Giants, emphasized the team's excitement for the new era, highlighting the focus on enhancing the matchday experience for fans. The Flair Stadium is poised to offer everything supporters need, from parking and accessibility to corporate hospitality and function rooms.
Rebecca Jackson, a non-executive director of the Huddersfield Giants, noted that the investment will be used to bring the stadium up to Super League standards, including the construction of a new stand, to create an electric atmosphere for both fans and partners.
