Rangers have finalized the acquisition of centre-back Olwethu Makhanya from Philadelphia Union in a deal valued at approximately £3m. The 22-year-old has signed a four-year contract, with Rangers holding an option to extend the deal by an additional 12 months.

Makhanya, who has made 53 appearances for the MLS club, is the eighth summer signing for Rangers. Upon joining the club, he expressed his excitement, stating that playing for Rangers is a dream come true and an immense honor. Manager Derek McInnes welcomed Makhanya, praising his attributes and confidence as a defender. Rangers have now signed eight players this summer and are seeking to add an attacking option to enhance their creativity.

The club is also exploring defensive reinforcements, with several players potentially leaving the club.
