Ibrahim Said scored a late winner as Motherwell began their Scottish Premiership campaign with a 2-1 victory at Hibernian's Easter Road. The winning goal came in the 85th minute, capping off an impressive counter-attack. Motherwell's Oscar Priestman had earlier won and conceded a penalty, while Lukas Fadinger gave the visitors the lead just before halftime.
Hibernian equalized in the 56th minute through Martin Boyle's penalty, but Motherwell adapted and eventually claimed the win. The Steelmen's new manager, Alfred Johansson, has now secured three wins from his first three games. Despite Hibernian's strong start, they failed to land a shot on target in the first half. Motherwell, meanwhile, grew in confidence as the game progressed, with Said often carrying the ball from deep in his own half.
The visitors' sharp passing led to Priestman being fouled, and Fadinger converted the resulting penalty. Regan Charles-Cook missed a chance to double the lead, and Hibernian eventually leveled the score. However, Motherwell regrouped and snatched victory through Said's goal, which was set up by a slick break involving substitutes Olly Whyte, Alex Lowry, and Jamie Knight-Lebel.
