A new lead investor has been secured by LIV Golf, following the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia's decision to end its funding at the end of 2026. The agreement, set to be finalized this month, will see players hold a majority equity stake in the league. The season will feature around 10 team events and five global 'Team Majors' across different continents.

LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil expressed optimism about the league's future, stating that the new investor will anchor a 'multi-partner model' for long-term stability and growth. Players were informed of the new deal, with CEO O'Neil noting 'good excitement' among them. The league aims to enter into the transaction with the new lead investor in September, marking a new era for LIV Golf with players as majority equity holders.
