Two-division world champion Skye Nicolson has officially joined Most Valuable Promotions, marking a significant move in her career. The 30-year-old Australian is scheduled to make her MVP debut on August 29, where she will defend her WBC super-bantamweight title against Japan's Miyo Yoshida on the undercard of the highly anticipated Mikaela Mayer vs Chantelle Cameron fight in Birmingham, live on Sky Sports. As an Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Nicolson is the latest prominent female boxer to join YouTuber Jake Paul's promotional organisation.
"The landscape of women's boxing is evolving, and I'm eager to be at the forefront of this shift," Nicolson stated. "My ultimate goal has always been to compete against the best in the sport and be a part of the most significant fights in women's boxing.
I firmly believe that this move will put me in the ideal position to achieve that. I'm excited for what the future holds and look forward to this new chapter in my career." Nicolson, who boasts a record of 16-1 with 3 KOs, will face off against the three-time, two-division world champion Yoshida, who has a record of 19-5 with 1 KO. This matchup is a crucial step for Nicolson as she seeks to unify the super-bantamweight division with a fifth consecutive victory. "Skye is one of the most notable figures in women's boxing today," said Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions.
"As a two-division world champion, Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Olympian, and one of Australia's biggest stars, she embodies the calibre of athlete we're building MVP around." The August 29 event at bp pulse LIVE in Birmingham will also feature Britain's Caroline Dubois defending her WBC and WBO lightweight titles against Amelia Moore, as part of an all-female fight card showcasing bouts between UK and USA fighters. The Mayer vs Cameron fight, including Nicolson vs Yoshida, will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
