Following his impressive performance at the Open at Royal Birkdale, Lucas Herbert secured a historic victory at the LIV Golf UK event with a score of 30 under par, the lowest winning score since the circuit's inception in 2022. Herbert's win saw him finish six strokes ahead of Tyrrell Hatton and nine strokes clear of Bryson DeChambeau. He also set new LIV records for most birdies in a tournament with 30 and most combined birdies and eagles with 32, after carding a 10-under 62 on Sunday.
Herbert had started the event with an 11-under 61, which included 10 birdies and an eagle, and his worst round was a three-under 69 on Saturday. This achievement marks Herbert's second LIV season win, following his triumph in Virginia in May.
"I aimed to build on my previous performance and carry that momentum into this week," Herbert said after his win. "It was great to play at such a high level when being pushed by two of the world's best players." Hatton, who carded a nine-under 63 on Sunday, praised Herbert's incredible performance, saying, "It would have been amazing to win in front of my home fans, but I gave it my best shot. Lucas was truly exceptional this week."
