Jack Draper, the former British number one, will have to qualify for the US Open after missing out on a main draw spot. Draper is set to return to action at the DC Open in Washington on July 27, following a wrist injury that forced him to miss Wimbledon. The 24-year-old has struggled with injuries and has only participated in a few tournaments since taking a break from the tour a year ago. As a result, his ranking has dropped to 147th in the world, making it likely that he will have to qualify for the fourth and final Grand Slam of the season.
Meanwhile, Arthur Fery, the new British men's number one, will make his Flushing Meadows debut after a remarkable run to the Wimbledon semi-finals, which has seen his ranking soar to 36th in the world. Fery and 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu, who is ranked 37th, are just outside the top 32 seeds.
They will be joined by fellow British hopefuls Cam Norrie, Jan Choinski, and Katie Boulter in the main draw when the tournament begins on August 30. Two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka and Wimbledon winner Jannik Sinner will lead the women's and men's singles fields in New York.
Sabalenka will aim to become the first woman to win three consecutive US Open titles since Serena Williams, while Sinner will try to regain the title he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in last year's final. Alcaraz, who has missed the last two majors due to a wrist injury, is ranked as the third seed and has entered the field.
