The team has characterized Shanahan's injuries as 'non-life-threatening' and expressed gratitude to the first responders who were present at the scene of the accident. In Shanahan's absence, assistant head coach and offensive line coach Chris Foerster, along with coordinators Klay Kubiak, Raheem Morris, and Brant Boyer, will oversee the team's first practice.
The 49ers organization has announced that Shanahan will participate in team activities on a limited basis as he recuperates from his injuries. The team has also thanked the first responders for their efforts and care. Shanahan, who is entering his tenth season as the 49ers' coach, is highly regarded for his expertise in offense and has led the team to two Super Bowl appearances following the 2019 and 2023 seasons.
Under his guidance, the 49ers have also made two appearances in the NFC title game in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Shanahan holds a 91-72 record in the regular season and playoffs, placing him third in the franchise's history in terms of wins, behind George Seifert and Bill Walsh.
