Chelsea has finalized the transfer of Manchester United's forward Melvine Malard for £750,000. The French international has inked a four-year contract with Chelsea, reuniting her with Sonia Bompastor, with whom she worked at OL Lyonnes and won the Champions League in 2022. Malard scored six goals in the WSL and four in the Champions League last season, with only one year remaining on her United contract. She drew interest from two US and European clubs, with two NWSL teams submitting offers.

'I'm thrilled because Chelsea aligns with my life and career plans,' Malard stated on Chelsea's website. 'It's a great club, and I'm excited to start.

Having played against Chelsea often, I know they have talented players.' Malard has known Sonia since she was 14 and is eager to work with her again. Her goal is to improve daily and win trophies, ambitions she shares with Chelsea.

Malard also looks forward to playing at Stamford Bridge, citing the incredible atmosphere and energetic fans.
