Welcome to the second edition of my Captain's Corner! This season I will be chronicling my experience as the European Solheim Cup captain, leading up to the tournament that will be hosted in the Netherlands for the first time from September 7 to 13. The golf calendar is already in motion, and we have just wrapped up the year’s opening major, The Chevron Championship in Texas, where many of our European ladies delivered impressive performances. Early in the season the Rolex Rankings have already shifted, with a variety of players showing strong form.

As we move forward toward the remaining four majors—each offering even more points—the picture of our Solheim Cup team continues to take shape, and the anticipation is building. Last week we welcomed the PING Europe apparel team to The Chevron Championship for what could be the first fitting session for both players and their caddies.

Over the past three Solheim Cups we have collaborated closely with PING Europe, which has streamlined the fitting process considerably. Their team is receptive to our feedback and eager to fine‑tune the garments and styles to suit our preferences.

The final outfits will remain a surprise until the squads arrive in the Netherlands, but I was allowed a sneak peek at the accessories we have selected, the fabrics, colour palettes, and a few additional fun elements we are still polishing. We are currently locking in the official attire for the Gala Dinner that will be held on Wednesday of Solheim Cup week, as well as the ensemble for the Opening Ceremony. We are partnering with a Dutch company to produce some of the apparel, and I am eager to see the players’ reactions. I can already tell a few of the team members—including my vice‑captains, Mel and Carro—that we have decided against a formal dress this year, which should be a welcome relief for many. Behind the scenes, the work continues with ongoing conversations with players, caddies and the broader support crew. Zoom has become one of my most frequently used tools for these discussions.

The buzz around this Solheim Cup is palpable; it’s rare to have a conversation without someone mentioning the event or asking about it. Balancing my duties on tour with the responsibilities of captain this year has been hectic, but I have been fortunate to receive strong backing from the Ladies European Tour, the LPGA and my management team, which has helped me navigate this dual role.

Being on this journey alongside the athletes is precisely why I volunteered for the captaincy. When I’m paired with European players I feel like I have the best seat in the house, watching the action from inside the ropes and getting to know each competitor on a personal level. Stay tuned for the next installment of Captain's Corner, where I will share more insights, updates on fittings, and behind‑the‑scenes stories as we get closer to the big week in September.
