Hull FC's hopes of climbing into the top half of the Betfred Super League standings were dashed after a dispiriting 12-4 loss to Toulouse. Interim head coach Andy Last had aimed to build on the team's previous win against Castleford Tigers, but instead, they fell to a Toulouse side that had endured seven consecutive league defeats prior to their visit to the MKM Stadium. The visitors made a strong start, scoring two tries within the first 10 minutes, courtesy of Olly Ashall-Bott and Joe Cator, with Jake Shorrocks successfully converting both attempts. Tom Briscoe managed to get Hull on the scoreboard with nine minutes left in the first half, but they were unable to add any more points after Zak Hardaker missed the conversion.
A more resilient Hull side emerged in the second half, forcing Toulouse to defend tenaciously against a barrage of attacks, but they could not find the breakthrough they needed. Ashall-Bott ensured Toulouse's lead would remain intact with a superb clearance under the posts with 15 minutes remaining, sealing the victory for the visitors.
